去る9月10日(土)、当会並びにJYMA日本青年遺骨収集団協同活動であるガ島第6次自主派遣隊が帰国、今般、ガ島アウステン山(ギフ高地)ノーティー地区にて16名(柱)のご遺骨を発見・収容いたしました。主として当該陣地を守備していた歩兵第124聯隊将兵のご遺骨と推定されます。

収容数

　日本遺族会による既収容数　　 57名(柱)
　当会理事西冨隊による既収容数 50名(柱)
　合計 126名(柱)

厚生労働省主催による焼骨式を執行後、当隊主催にて神式による慰霊祭を齋行、そして仏式による慰霊法要を厳修いたしました。

現在、ご遺骨は厚生労働省により、在ソロモン日本国大使館にご安置され、年内に本邦へ送還される予定です。

尚、今次派遣隊で受領した、個人を特定できる遺留品は下記の通りです。

[The 6th of Guadalcanal Island independent volunteer dispatch corps for collecting the Japanese war-dead remains returning home]

The independent volunteer dispatch corps, which are corporated by All Japan Solomon Association and Japan Youth Memorial Association returned home in September 10 and found 16 remains of the Japanese officers and soldiers during the era of WWII in the Mt.Austin area. We mainly estimate a position concerned at remains of the 124th regiments officers and soldiers who were fielding.

After executing the cremating ceremony of bones by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, we held a memorial service by Buddhism and Shinto style for those dead servicemen.

It’s expected 126 servicemen including all remains to be returned home, Japan, within this year by the activity of Japanese Government.
